Literature Text

It was the rotten-flesh daisies that caught my eye.  How they crawled through the flaking concrete like little, putrid reminders.  Reeking of beauty and life and other things I no longer looked for.

My eyes reached towards the decomposing petals, wondering how it was they bloomed amongst such urban decay.  Did they not sense the asphalt clouds threatening a shower of tar?  Weren't they afraid of steel structures, casting down shadows to block all photosynthesis.

What happened when UV rays left petal surface?

The butterfly wings etched in lighting constantly flutter across a storm painted sky, and when the raindrops splash color across my skin, I find that I too am confined to this canvas.

The burst of a technicolor bubble gushes from my vision, and through the glimmer of 3D rainbows, I discover every artificial emotion sparking in my veins.

Could you take me back to monotony?  Back to single shades, and memories so grey I won't have to relive them?

(you cannot fake color blind eyes)  its visible that beauty bursts beneath concrete.
(malnourishment not decay)  life is more stubborn than you could ever be.

(and asphalt clouds…)  only rain hope.
static thoughts short wiring my circuits.
the constant smoke, the pleading throat.

stop it.stop it.
